City of Portsmouth Annual Update

The real estate market throughout the country and the Northeast has seen considerable appreciation in the past 8 to 9 years. This is especially true within the residential housing market. Residential homes, condominiums, and multi family homes have been increasing 12% to 18% annually, fueled mostly by the lowest interest rates in this country in the last 45 years. This increase in appreciation determined by repeat sales of homes, continues despite a slow recovery in most other sectors of the economy.

2006 REVALUATION INFORMATION As required by New Hampshire Law, the City of Portsmouth Assessor's Office is beginning verifications of assessment information for all properties throughout the City for the 2006 revaluation. A representative from this office will be in your neighborhood within the next year.

The Office of City Clerk provides support services for the City Council, publishes and posts all legal notices, attends and records all actions taken by the City Council The office files and preserves as required all contracts, bonds, agreements, ordinance book and other City documents. The Office of City Clerk also administers and conducts elections in accordance with state and local laws.
